This is what I have been looking at today on pinterest. Caravans, trailers and such. Who doesn't want one of these to call their own. Tiny I know. But it is totally adorable! Would be cuter in my favorite shade of aqua too.

pillowcase raffle
If you are on my email newsletter list, you prob read about the Pillowcase Raffle being held in the shop. We are raising money for shipping the pillowcases we make for soldiers.
Tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5. And you even get to pick out which pillowcase you would like to win. There are 8 on the wall right now, but more are coming in!
In the next few days, I will be sharing with you more about who has made the pillowcase. Everyone is sending them in, fabric designers, pattern makers, and authors. And some are sending along an extra gift, like a pattern, book, or matching sheet to go with their pillowcase!

purple potato salad
This is really what I wanted to share with you about my Easter, my favorite Potato Salad recipe from Jamie Oliver. It is so great with chives, mint, and radishes. The only thing that I do different is instead of buying creme fresh, I use half mayo and have sour cream. Mainly because that's what I have in my fridge. I don't measure it either. Just whip it with the olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon juice. Delicious!
We also had the usual ham, asparagus, hot cross buns. Plus Strawberry Shortcake for dessert which was a perfect spring dessert.
Tell me if you make it!

church, family, and a quilt
How was your Easter? Mine was just perfect. It was a perfect day with just enough of family, food, and rest to get me ready for another week in the shop.
Easter 2012
Each Easter we attend church at the United Methodist Church in Lincoln. It's special there for us. My parents were married there and so was I, (April 28 will be our 24th anniversary).
This is the oldest church in town, 125 years old. And my Mom, Donna, has gotten a fantastic idea to create a quilt based on the windows from the church (more about that later). They are very unique. And as a kid, I loved reading them. They helped keep me awake during services. "Died in his wagon on his way to California". Each one tells a story and is dedicated to a missionary or pastor from that time.
For me, this church is another neat part of what makes Lincoln special.

binding class
Would you like to learn how to finish your quilt with the perfect mitered corners and a nice edge? We are having the class just for you!
So many quilters are afraid to tackle this last step on their own. Don't be. It's fun and easy once you learn how, it feels so great to take that last step to finally finish your quilt, yourself.
Bring a project with you that you would like to finish. Or if you don't have one you just need 2 pieces of fabric about the size of a fat quarter with a piece of batting in the middle.
Please call the shop (916) 209-3930 or come in to register.

twirl
We obviously love pillows at SKJ! This mustache pillow was my girl's idea (on the right). Her girlfriend had on the most perfect necklace too!
How did this happen? We were in San Francisco in a little fabric shop and she was picking out fabric. She wanted to make a mustache pillow. So a few days after we get home, mom (that's me) googles "Mustache Pillow Tutorial". The rest is history.

me and my sister
Here at SKJ we are raising awareness of our Pillowcases for Soldiers program. In March, I started asking fabric designers to make a pillowcase from their fabric line and send it to the shop for us to raffle. The response has been so great and very encouraging!
I heard from Barbara and Mary of Me and My Sister, Moda Fabrics fame. Barb sent us 2 pillowcases, and blogged about our escapades! Aren't their fabrics the cutest? They must know my favorite color.... But this is a pillowcase for you! To win.
You can read all about it here, on their blog. And see the pillowcases that she made in real life in the shop. But.... not until May 1st. Then the raffle will begin. Tickets will be on sale for the month of May at $1 each, or six tickets for $5.
