wish list #2

The Go Baby!
from Accuquilt

We all would love to find one of these under our tree on Christmas morning.  The Go Baby, has so many fun dies for applique, and quilting.  It makes each cut precisely.  You can even layer 6 fabrics at a time and cut them all at once!  Quickly and accurately.

We always have a Go Baby in the shop, out and ready to demonstrate for you.  PLUS, we now have a Go Baby Club.  We meet once a month to use our cutters and create something new.

To make the Snowman Table Runner,
we used the Hexagon Die and the Snowflake Die.

We even fed the students a yummy homemade lunch!

You are welcome in SKJ anytime, and we can fill out your
Wish List together!

Wish List

Do your kids ask you what you want for Christmas?  Mine do.  I always tell them, "hugs and kisses"!  My Dad would always answer with "three good girls". What parent doesn't want that! Both are such good answers to a tough question.

This year I am telling my kids I would like a hot glue gun, and a staple gun.  Something I really need.  But they aren't too happy getting their mom a necessity item!

So I thought I would share with you some ideas for you to share with your family.  Here is just the littlest start to your very own Wish List.

#1 Hobbs Tuscany Wool Batting
It's the very best.  "The ultimate quilt batting. Quilts magnificently by hand or machine. Breathes naturally. Washable."  Queen size $46.99

#2 Snail Tape Measure
Perfect size to carry in your purse.  Perfect for a Christmas stocking or Secret Sister gift. Plus it's just super cute in super cute colors!  $2.99

Come back soon as our list of gift ideas will grow.  All items are available at SKJ while supplies last.

pioneer quilters guild

I had a booth last weekend at the Pioneer Quilters Guild, Quilt Show.  It was the best show ever!  I saw a lot of familiar faces, and made some new friends.  Plus, there were people all lined up out the door on Saturday just waiting to come in.

When the show comes around next year, you should plan to attend.

I can't do a show like this by myself.  Thanks to my hub for helping me with the hauling.  And thank you to my mom, Donna, for being with me in my booth.  She was great company!

day out

The weather here in Lincoln, California is still gorgeous, high 70 degree days.  But with cold nights, we are seeing the leaves change color and drop from the trees.  It is perfect fall weather.

So we took the day and went to Gram's Ranch.  The kids did some archery, drove around an ATV, got muddy, and we had a bit of a picnic.

rainbow quilt

I finished my quilt! I haven't finished what I've started in a long time.  Seems like it anyway.

These are the fabrics that I started with.  17 Fat Quarters.  Mostly all from the Briar Rose by Heather Ross (love her :) collection from Windham.

Windham has great free patterns. So that's the one I used to make my very own Rainbow Quilt.  Well, it's my very own quilt that will be hanging in the shop for awhile.

It's going off to the quilters this week.  So excited to get it really finished! The quilting always make such a huge, beautiful difference.

p.s. A kit to make this quilt is available in the shop.

Just 25 cents.  Come out and take a walk, enjoy these perfect fall days.  Remember to put a quarter in your pocket.  The money raised is being donated to a local non-profit.

girl's of summer

All summer long SKJ held classes to teach the young ladies of Placer County how to sew by hand and machine.  Thanks to our very own Tessie Takehara, these are some of her students and a bit of what they learned to make.

hot cocoa

Sew Katie Jean is celebrating our 2nd Anniversary!

By raffling this Hot Cocoa quilt.  This is our second year at raffling a quilt.  When you come in to buy your ticket we are also selling the pattern ($1.99) and the layer cake ($38.99) plus have weekly classes ($5. each) for you to make it yourself.

When I saw this pattern, I asked each of our SKJ teachers to sew up a block and asked our favorite quilter, Cindy Lloyd to work her magic for some custom quilting.  I thought everyone would love to buy a ticket for a chance to win a Christmas quilt.  You can keep it yourself or give it as a gift!  We should be pulling the winning ticket by October.

The money we raise is going to the Lincoln Lighthouse Resource and Counseling Center.  Last year we donated $500. I would love if we could double that amount this year!  Come in and get your $1. raffle ticket to win a quilt and support a great Lincoln organization that helps our local families.
