Since I am not teaching this summer, I thought I would share with you a few of my favorite tutorials. These are great for sewing with kids or for those who want to learn how to sew.
One of my favorite things to teach to the beginner sewist is a pillowcase. We have been sewing these for the past four years at Sew Katie Jean. Donating all of them to the national organization called Heads at Ease. We have probably made 1,000 pillowcases for our active duty military!

I just wish that she would have ironed her fabric. Ironing is very important for a great finished project.
And here is another one, the Magic Pillowcase. She even shows you how to make French Seams. They are easy to do. It just requires a bit of extra sewing.
I cut my fabric a little differently here too. 3/4 yard for the pillowcase body. 1/3 yard for the cuff. I like a bit of a wider cuff. It looks good, and it makes turning the pillowcase a little easier. And when you pick out your fabric, I don't like to use flannel on both the body and cuff of the pillowcase. It makes it really hard to turn the fabric right side out.
