little black dress and andrea victoria

New fabrics are coming in fast and furious! Two gorgeous collections just came in this past week.

Andrea Victoria from Riley Blake

Love this yellow and gold combination

AND... Little Black Dress 2 from Basic Grey

So many to choose from!

What I really love about these collections is how well they will work together.  I am dreaming of making a low contrast quilt of grey and cream.

modern and improvised with a bit of yellow

trip around the world

court house steps

I especially love the traditional quilts made with low volume colors making it modern. And then add a pop of yellow.  What would you like to make?

pincushion tutorial

It's time for you to go over to the Riley Blake blog, Cutting Corners to check out my pincushion tutorial!  I had such fun making it with this gorgeous fabric from Amanda of The Quilted Fish.

I made a Log Cabin pincushion, using this cute apple print for the traditional red center.  It is filled with crushed nut shells.  It's the first time that I have used them, and I really like the feel of the cushion with them in there.

Thanks for looking at my newest tutorial!  Let me know if you're inspired to make one.

itty bitty

Today I am sewing up the littlest squares of fabrics. I mean tiny 2 1/2" squares.  They were left over from a much bigger quilt project.

Isn't this the prettiest of colors.  I love how the mustard is the neutral color in this collection.  It is called So Sophie from Riley Blake. (fyi: I have one layer cake left in my shop).

This is the pattern I am using.  Itty Bitty Pinwheels.  The finished size is a 10" square.  Mine of course will look a little different because I didn't sort mine out between light and dark.  Just beautiful little squares.  I'm thinking it will come out like a tiny mug rug.  I'll keep you posted!

pincushion club

Visit Riley Blake to see some of the sweetest pincushions! In the spring you will even see one of my own creations.  I am already so happy to see some of the designs showing up on their site.  Would you like to challenge yourself to make each one?  I have a favorite one already.  And I'm sure there will be more favorites on their way!
