Our Quilty Fun, BOM 2015 is going strong!

So much cutting and kitting to do! And a fun technique to learn for this Flying Geese block from Lori Holt (block for March).

Here is a fun video of our sewing ladies!  I love hearing all of the talking and laughing going on during class time.  It's a really short video, but they are such a great group!

And here are two of my completed blocks, Apples and Twinkle Stars.  I finished my Court House Steps block, which I loved making.  Up next are the Baskets.  Just three of those to make.

If you would like to join in, there is room still available in the Thursday class.  It meets the 4th Thursday of every month at 10:00 - 12:00 pm.  Call the shop (916) 209-3930 to save your seat and a kit!

apples

Are you joining along in our Block of the Month for 2015?  Classes are just $10 each month.  And the kit is $10.  Some months we will be completing two blocks, and some months three.  There are 20 blocks in all including the label for the back of your quilt.

Here is the finished quilt from Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet

This is our own version of the Apples block and the Twinkle Star block is right next to it.

You are also welcome to come into the shop and just pick up the kits.  We know you don't always have the time to sit and sew!

do you want your daughter to marry a farmer?

That was the question that a 1920's magazine asked women who were farm wives.  If they had a daughter of marriageable age would they like her to become a farmer's wife?  Mothers wrote back to the newspaper with a heartfelt yes!

This is the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt, letters from the 1920's farm wives and the 111 traditional quilt blocks that they inspired.

It is also a very special Quilt Block of the Month Club that is being started at Sew Katie Jean.  We will be using the special templates created by Marti Michel to create our blocks and the book as our guide.  It will be our goal to sew at least 5-6 blocks per month.  Meeting every first Friday of the month to sit, sew, and share while we create our own lap to king size quilt featuring the 6" blocks.
