i left my heart

One of my personal goals has been to vend at a big craft show in San Francisco.  So I had a little celebration, when a few days ago I learned that I was accepted to be a vendor at Bazaar Bizarre.

It is being held at one of the most beautiful spots in San Francsico at Fort Mason.  Right on the water.  And in December the weather should be perfect.  Well really, who knows!  It's SF and the weather is always a favorite topic of discussion.

Luckily I only live 1 1/2 hours away.  And even more lucky is that my hub and kids are coming with me!  Now to find a cheap inexpensive hotel.  Wish me more luck!

p.s. to see more about the goings on see the flickr group here.

summer fun

Wanna have some San Francisco fun? Then go to the Renegade Craft Fair. Fort Mason is such a nice location and a beautiful part of the city, right on the water. They also have these shows in NY and Chicago. So you know it's gonna be nice. Stop by to see my girl Amy at Peptogirl Industries. Have fun!

day four

onesies

The weather is changing a little bit here and has been cloudy lately. So I took these pictures inside. This photo is of 3 onesies, each appliqued with a vintage men's monogrammed handkerchief, "f, s, n". I have been holding on to these for awhile and have finally used them! I love the white on white look. Can be either for a girl or boy.

Last night I was at the Spring into Style event and loved it!! My friend Rene came with me and was such a great support (thanks girl!). The location was so nice and I had a great spot, right in the middle of everything. The crowd was there to buy and I practically sold out of my cuddle blankets. It was funny, being in San Francisco, there wasn't hardly anyone there who had kids. Everyone was buying for a friend! I had a fantastic time and hope to do it again.

san francisco anyone

af-spring-sf-invite.jpg

I just received an invitation a few days ago to attend an event called "Spring into Style" in San Francisco. It is a shopping event being held this Thursday evening, 5 to 9 p.m. March 13th! And I would love to see a friendly face. This event is considered an upscale trunk show filled with style and fashion. 70 designers, including me!, selling everything from jewelry, clothing, accessories, and baby items. Including complimentary drinks, beauty services, and giveaways. They also have gift bags at the door!

It will be at the Regency Hotel (really nice) in the Sutter Room, located at 1270 Sutter Street @ Van Ness. Which is so easy to find, last time I was in SF for the Mission Indie-Mart, I had to go to map quest for a ton of maps. To and from my hotel, to and from the Galaxie Bar. The Mission was a part of town that I hadn't really been to before. Although I found it just find and didn't get lost once. I was so proud of myself and felt so grown up! Well this one I will need no map, just the freeway exit. I hope!

Tickets at the door are $10. But you (or any friend, family, co-worker) are invited to RSVP online to get a half price ticket. Go to www.appelandfrank.com and enter the code DESIGNERSF on the ticket purchase page. A portion of the door proceeds are donated to Dress for Success, San Francisco.

So, come and see me. Tell your husband that you are going out with the girls and take the 1 1/2 hour drive (from Sacto.) to San Francisco. Wouldn't that be fun! Mix it up! Be spontaneous!

neat idea

The SF Indie-Mart is over. The location, a bar, smelled like a bar. Reminding me of a frat house. It was even dark inside. And a rainy day outside. Everyone was young and very cool. A lot of tattoos, piercings, and black hair. Yes, I did feel a little square (just like a suburb mommy should). And I had the best time! Everyone was so nice to me, and helped me find my place. There were 40 vendors there, almost all handmade. It was fun to see what everyone else makes. A lot of it having to do with feathers. And a bunch of other stuff I did totally love.

I only saw three babies and I had to stop each mommy to say hello. The people who came to the Indie-Mart were ready to shop and buy. My blankets were the top sale of the day. There were cheap beers and bloody mary's to be had. Although I did not partake, I thought, what a great way to shop! Maybe coffee and a scone would be more my style!

Ok the San Francisco Indie-Mart was a good time. Will I go again? Maybe during the San Francisco summer.

katie jean in San Francisco

so, does this look like me?

I will be in SF in January for a very special event called the Mission Indie-Mart. It is a one day, 4 hour shopping party. I am nervous and excited about it all. I do feel a little square to be there, (see above picture), that's the nervous part. But it sounds like fun. Here is an excerpt from their blog:

The Mission Indie-Mart has quickly grown from an underground backyard shopping party into a popular monthly event featuring a tantalizing combination of shopping, music, and food. Catering to the style conscious hipster, this event showcases truly independent local designers, offering everything from one of a kind fashions and reconstructed vintage (that's me) to offbeat crafts, handmade jewelry, and fun antiques. Enjoy cheap beer, hot plates, local dj's and the cream of the crop of San Francisco's indie designer scene.

See what I mean about being nervous? "the style conscious hipster". But how can you beat any craft event that has cheap beer! Also the location sounds intriguing. There will be 50 other vendors there. I hope to see some familiar faces, come to San Francisco for the day!
